Database Tutorial
Listing by Position and Sorting Results

(Needs to be viewed in 800 x 600 resolution)

We have a great database with powerful search and sort features, so we figured the best way to help you harness it is to provide you with a graphic tutorial that can run you through some of the options available to you.

Look at the image on the left which shows the form you'll see at our search gateway. Here's the scenario: We only want to list the prospects at the ATH position. What you do in this case is:

  1. Go to the POSITION pull down menu, pointed out by the red arrow.

  2. Click on it to bring up the pull down menu, and select the ATH position, as shown by the yellow arrow.

  3. Now, click on the SEARCH button on the bottom of the screen.

As you can see by image on the right, the search results only show us the prospects with the position ATH in their profile. To read more about a specific prospect, just click on their name, as indicated by the red arrow. In this case, you'd get the individual profile for Marcus Johnson.

Now, we're going to show you how you can sort the list of ATH prospects we have here...

See where the green arrow is in the same image above? It's pointing out the header field for the column, which is NAME. Notice that the background of the header is black, while the other headers are dark blue? What this means is that the database results are currently being sorted by the header which has the black background. In this case, it's being sorted by the name of the prospect. If you look carefully, you'll notice that all the headers are links. If you click on a header link, such as the one labled 40 where the yellow arrow is, you're going to tell the database to re-sort the results by the prospect's 40 times. Let's say we went ahead and clicked where the yelllow arrow is, and this is what you will see:

Look where the yellow bracket is -- it's showing you that the database is now sorted by prospects' 40 times! Based on that, we can tell that out of all the ATH positions out there, Johnny Mullins is the quickest with a 4.45 time.

See the red arrow? The 40 header now has a black background, which indicates that it's how the database is being sorted.

As you can tell by now, you can sort our database results by clicking on any of the headers. One nifty way is to click on the RTG header and get our rankings of the best players in the database. Feel free to play around and sort to your heart's desire!
